  • Bistro Zinc: Lenox, Massachusetts

Everyone should visit The Berkshires at least one time in their life. I have visited over 50 times and also had the luxury of living there. The historic downtown of Lenox is a beautiful start to experience the richness of the Berkshires. Tanglewood is very close by and that is a perfect place to enjoy the musical magic here.

  • Talbott Hotel: Chicago

My kind of town – Chicago! And my kind of hotel – the Talbott! I don't know about you, but I love big cities, however, when I go to my room, I want to take the “big” out of the city and feel more cozy. The beauty of staying at this property is that the location is close to the Magnificent Mile, nightlife and museums, but it sits a few blocks away on a quiet tree lined street which gives you the best of both worlds.

  • Checklist for Choosing a Veterinarian

Debbie Murray is a dog enthusiast from LaGrange, KY. She currently has five dogs - all Miniature Australian Shepherds who share a house with her and her husband Paul. Debbie also breeds her pets on occasion to share this marvelous breed with other dog enthusiasts. Susie is excited because she hopes to be getting another mini Aussie to keep her company from Debbie's  next litter. Debbie has been kind enough to share this article on choosing a veterinarian with the Boomer Travel Patrol.

For more detailed information on Debbie and her dogs you can visit her web site Alangus Mini & Toy Aussies as well as her blog. This article is one recently featured on her blog and offers excellent advice on selecting a veterinarian.

  • Channel Road Inn: Santa Monica, California

It's always a treat to find an unexpected property in an area that most people visit and stay in high rise hotels. Although many of those properties sit right on the beach and offer a lot of amenities, sometimes it's just plain nice to stay in a cozy, comfortable spot that feels more like home. The Channel Road Inn is just one of those places.

  • Five Coffee Bars: From Coast to Coast

Five coffee shops to check out, two in New York in Albany and Manhattan, another in Portland, Maine, one in Chicago, Illinois and finally on the west coast, a coffee shop in Seattle, Washington that is not a Starbucks!

  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Blend the pearly sands of Florida with a dash of Atlantic City and a pinch of Gatlinburg and you’ve got the delights of Myrtle Beach.

  • Dog Mountain: St.Johnsbury, Vermont

Dog Mountain came to our attention when Susie and I were at Camp Gone to the Dogs.  The proceeds from an auction at the end of our week at camp were dedicated to the support of Dog Mountain in northeastern Vermont near St.Johnsbury. Unfortunately our schedule did not allow for a visit on this trip, since we were traveling up the western side of the state into Canada on our way to Montreal.

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Cleveland, Ohio

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has a huge collection of the personal artifacts from almost all the Rock and Rollers you know and love. This includes the musical instruments, cars, vans, clothes, advertising, handwritten song lyrics, gold records, jewelry, and much, much more.

  • Hotel Hershey: Hershey, Pennsylvania

How sweet it is! Welcome to the Hotel Hershey, a 1930's property that is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. I think most of us Boomers grew up on Hershey's chocolate – I know I'm still addicted! So why not celebrate your sweet tooth with a visit to a town built on chocolate that has a gorgeous hotel with charm, elegance and a variety of activities?
