All About Boomer Travel Patrol & The Folks That Make It Happen!!
Welcome to the Fabulous Side of Fifty! Baby Boomers are fun, active and anything but traditional..
CURRENT TIME IN CANCUN
With that in mind, we are pleased to introduce you to the Boomer Travel Patrol which consists of editors from a variety of areas and backgrounds who love to travel, will share their experiences from a Boomer perspective and invite you to participate by contributing your recommendations, tips and favorite places.
The Boomer Travel Patrol was a concept created by Liz Dahl, a former travel agent and public relations consultant who felt baby boomers were not in the coveted demographic of 18-49 and therefore left out of the “fun” activities when it came to travel. We love bus trips and cruises, but there's more to see and do and we have the time and means to explore the world.
Liz teamed with fellow baby boomer, Don Anderson, an IT Specialist, so the website is truly by and about boomers.
You will find ideas, tips, locations, food and a variety of information on virtually any place in the world. Please enjoy navigating the site and share your travel experiences with us as well.

Meet The Patrol
TODD BEECHEY,
YACHT PATROL
Todd Beechey is on a mission to disrupt the yachting industry. As the Chief Experiences Officer of OceanScape Yachts, Beechey paired his passion for cruising and seven-star hospitality with his own frustrations in trying to charter a yacht to invent a charter network that takes the sharing economy to an entirely new level. His venture — OceanScape Yachts — is essentially the NetJets of the sea.
Frustrated with brokers who were more interested in sales and charters of higher end yachts, Beechey saw a missed opportunity where he could help luxury travelers enjoy a yacht vacation without a 365-day-a-year ownership, much like NetJets arranges private air charters for those who don’t want to own a plane. He has cleverly designed an innovative platform to leverage usage of luxury yachts, which sit idle for most of the year, while at the same time creating a membership community for those who are passionate about yachting. As a result, consumers and travel agents can book passage on an international portfolio of private luxury yachts more affordably than ever before and gain access to knowledgeable ambassadors who will work with them to design unique experiences in exotic destinations.
Todd’s background as an entrepreneur and CFO has helped him navigate the specific ins and outs of the financial obligations of yacht chartering, and while membership has its privileges in terms of providing greater discounts on yacht charters, anyone can book a yacht vacation with OceanScape Yachts without having to pay a membership fee. His mission in the creation and development of OceanScape Yachts is to make the yachting experience easier, more accessible, and more cost-effective than ever before.
Widely recognized by his peers as a visionary and strategic thinker, Todd has the ability to develop and implement creative solutions to a wide range of business issues. He continually challenges the status quo and seeks opportunities to drive improvements in all aspects of business. He has a 25-year career as a financial executive that has spanned a variety of industries. Todd also holds an MBA from the University of Toronto-Rotman School of Management, where he graduated as a Bregman Scholar.

Liz Dahl:
Hotel Patrol
Liz Dahl created a PR firm in 1984 and has been serving clients in Louisville and nationally since that time. Liz's prior experience was in business, politics and entertainment. She started her first company, a travel agency, when she was in her early thirties. She was then approached by Phyllis George, a former Miss America and future First Lady of Kentucky to become her Chief of Staff and Press Secretary. She was also named head of the Kentucky Film Foundation. It was during that tenure that she become involved with the media on a national level. After the administration ended, Liz went on to form her own PR firm, Liz Dahl Enterprises and has been involved in this industry ever since.
Her clients have been varied and sometimes unusual, but it has always been interesting and successful. Liz's track to the United States was a difficult one. Her father was in a concentration camp and she was born in a Displaced Person's Camp in Germany. The family came to America on a cargo ship from Europe and Liz keeps the photo of that journey on her desk as a regular reminder of her past and the opportunities that have been made available to her in this country. In fact, she is currently working on a movie of her parent's love story. In July of 2013, shefounded www.boomertravelpatrol.com, a travel website for Baby Boomers out of a frustration of not being targeted to appeal to her "fun" side. After turning 50, her mailbox was full of hearing aid ads, drug company information, burial plots and laxatives. Having owned her own travel agency, she went back to her passion and has now combined her knowledge and love of travel with her professional PR skills.

LINDA & GEORGE MEYERS:
CULINARY PATROL
Linda and George Meyers are two fifty-somethings from the Washington, DC area who decided they were tired of the rat race and wanted to embark on an adventure — what one might call an interesting combination of “Eat. Pray. Love.” meets “Under The Tuscan Sun.”
High school sweethearts from New Orleans, George and Linda lived like most people, working hard in their respective careers and raising a family. George spent 20 years as a US Air Force pilot, retiring as a Colonel, and then started his own business in Washington DC. Linda was an elementary school teacher, tirelessly inspiring young minds for more than 26 years.
And then one day, they took a good look at their lifestyle — which involved 18-hour workdays — and wondered if there was a better way to spend their time. Their kids were grown with children of their own, it was just them and their Dachshund, Talula, and they decided there was no better time to take a leap of faith and go spend a year in Tuscany cooking.
They started entertaining family and friends in Tuscany. Before long, they realized they were entertaining “friends of friends” in Tuscany — and they were really enjoying it. Then they creating classes and tours for everyone — and thus Cook in Tuscany was born! Their guests had so much fun (and wanted to enjoy the experience in other locations), and Linda and George launched Cook In Mexico and Cook In Cuba as well.

Susie is happy to be the dog of a baby boomer. She is a dog who enjoys being on the go – which is probably one of her favorite words along with “Din,” “biscuit,” and “treat.” Susie is miniature Australian Shepherd and her daddy found her on-line through the Miniature Australian Shepherd Rescue Society (MARS).
Susie was born in Georgia and is a real Georgia peach. Her daddy and mommy traveled all the way to north Georgia to bring her back to Kentucky.
Since she has come to her new home, Susie has graduated from obedience classes through advanced and received her certificate as a Canine Good Citizen from the AKC. She and her daddy have formed a team to do therapy work with WAGS, a local therapy animal group in Louisville and should start work as soon as they pass the evaluation exam.
Susie loves to travel and visit new and exciting places with her family. Whether it’s a short trip to the dog park or one of the many parks in Kentucky or Indiana, or a trip to Georgia or beyond, Susie is ready to go. Susie is concerned about the availability and quality of pet friendly sites not only for herself, but also for her many animal friends. Also not just for dogs, but for cats, birds and other members of the animal kingdom who share their lives with their human families.
She will be assisted not only by her mommy and her daddy, but also by a number of her canine, feline and other friends.
Shadow, whose mom is the RV patrol, is a Siberian husky with his own opinions on pet travel and more.
Miss Kitty, whose mommy speaks for the Hotel patrol will have much to say from the feline perspective.
The world awaits!
