Explore Croatia and the countries of the Adriatic. This is a “must-see” region filled with ancient cities, medieval architecture, unique cultures, rolling hills and stunning coastal scenery.

Opatija

Known as “Croatia’s Riviera,” Opatija was once the summer retreat for Roman Caesars and Hapsburg Monarchs.

Spend the day relaxing at one of its most popular beaches like Lido, Slatina, Tomaševac, and Peharovo.

Stroll through its array of parks like Angiolina, which features the Camellia flower. The flower was brought from the Philippines and is known as one of the symbols of Opatija. The flower is a prominent attraction in many of the city’s well-manicured parks and gardens.

You may notice the Opatija Camellia cake as a common souvenir to take home. This fruity-flavored cake infuses Mediterranean flavors in the shape of the beautiful Camellia.

Dubrovnik

Tour this medieval city where “Old Dubrovnik,” a UNESCO World Heritage site, is filled with many historical locations. Visit the Franciscan Monastery, where Europe’s oldest pharmacy lies; Rector’s Palace; and the City Walls.

Explore the massive ramparts that encompass the city in an irregular-shaped polygon with several forts that help make up this stately defense.

Perhaps choose to behold the best panoramic city views aboard a cable car that whisks you to the top of the Srd Hill.

Plitvice Lakes

Travel to Croatia’s most beautiful national park, Plitvice Lakes, a stunning example of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Enjoy awe-inspiring scenery as you travel through this natural phenomenon of sixteen terraced lakes surrounded by forests and thick vegetation.

Marvel at the series of waterfalls and free-flowing cascades that connect each lake to the other.

A short cruise on the lake takes you into the heart of this natural wonder.

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Travel to Slovenia’s quaint capital of Ljubljana. This lovely town nestled along the banks of the river includes a medieval castle, the impressive City Hall, and St. Nicholas’s cathedral.

Browse the many shops, visit Tivoli Park, or walk along the canal.

Lake Bled

Enjoy the old-world charm of taking a “pletna” boat to the island on the lake to visit the 17th-century cathedral, St. Mary’s Church and the “wishing bell.”

According to legend, a bell was casted by the young widow Poliksena – who lived at Bled Castle – in honor of her late husband. Unfortunately, a terrible storm struck the boat that was transporting the bell. Both the bell and the crew sank, and to this day, the ringing sound of the bell often chimes from the bottom of the lake. Upon Poliksena’s death, the Pope consecrated a new bell and sent it to Bled Island. For anyone who rings the bell, which in turn pays tribute to the Virgin Mary, their wish will come true!
