  1. Ghana: The Gold Coast of West Africa

    $0.00

In 2005 I had the unique opportunity to travel to the nation of Ghana in West Africa. I had been invited by my good friend and colleague, Dr. Godfried Williams, to be the keynote speaker at an information technology conference in the capital city of Accra. The conference was the 1st International Conference on Advances in Information and Communication Engineering held in August 2005 at the behest of the Ghanaian government. My topic was “Bridging the Digital Divide:  Linking and Closing the Gap between Advanced and Developing Economies.”

  2. DuBai – “Gateway between the East & the West”

    $0.00

The origination of man’s creative spirit began in the East – but the gauntlet was passed onto the West – as we have seen throughout our European sojourns.  However, we are seeing the Phoenix rise from a humble beginning as a pearl-diving centre, to one of the fastest growing cities in the world!  What makes Dubai so remarkable is that such accomplishments have taken only thirty years!  This is a city constantly on the move that even the updated GPS systems cannot keep up with all the road changes!

  3. Luxury Patrol: Rome

    $0.00

Your head starts singing on such mentions, and the first time you see Rome, you know you'll be back. Yes, of course, go to the Fontana di Trevi, and throw your coins in the fountain to guarantee your return. So many old traditions and customs, Rome is an amazing mix of the truly ancient mixed in with 21st Century kids, technology, architecture - and it all works somehow.

  4. The Garden of England and the Royal Golf Coast

    $0.00

Though Scotland and, more specifically, the Old Course at St Andrew’s lay claim to being the ‘home of links golf’ there are some who argue that the county of Kent, in the south east tip of England, boasts the widest variety of links golf to be found on the planet, let alone the British Isles.

The Kent region is known throughout Europe as the Garden of England for its rich history for growing fruit, vegetables and hops (for beer), but is now marketed to golfers as Kent’s Regal Golf Coast – and a right royal time you’ll have playing here.

Royal St George’s in Sandwich is, of course, world-famous for hosting The Open Championship on 14 occasions and lies immediately next to Prince’s Golf Club, another coastal gem of Kent.

Connoisseurs of links golf might contend, however, that the finest links of them all lies just two miles away in Deal where, even on a sunny day, Royal Cinque Ports offers one of the sternest tests of golf you are ever likely to find.

  5. A Place to Park

    $0.00

At least once a year our destination is a landmark National Park. Since we live in the middle of the US, this usually means traveling a long distance to get to “A Park That’s a Place”. And that results in looking for a Place to Park for overnight stops.

  6. KIAWAH ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA

    $0.00

“Kiawah should have been a poem,” someone wrote years ago, and how true those words are. Our first trip to Kiawah, May 1980, came about because of a friend’s recommendation. “What a funny name,” I said. He explained, “It’s named for the Indian tribe that lived there during the 1600s. In 1699, a so-called pirate named George Raynor was granted the land and after that, the island was handed down through two different families for the next 250 years. It was purchased again in 1951 then, sold to a real estate developer. You won’t believe how beautiful it is,” he promised.

Accommodations come in all varieties and I promised to cover as many options as I can – Yurts in Turkey were on the list, so let's go!

  11. Camp Classes: Camp Gone to the Dogs

    $0.00

What an amazing week! This was an experience of a lifetime that can be repeated year after year if so desired and have the time, resources and ability to travel. There is no possible way to cover all the bases in a single week of camp. In fact campers are advised, especially the first year, not to try to do too much. Both you and your dog will wear out, both physically and mentally.

  14. Italian Cottage: Chico, California

    $0.00

I grew up in Chico (northern California). I loved it then and love it even more now since I go to visit often. It is a small college town with beautiful tree lined streets. The campus, Chico State is right in the center of town and so there are a lot of restaurants and shops there. The Esplanade is a long main street (as a teenager I used to cruise with friends down the Esplanade) and you go a little beyond town to see the Italian Cottage. There are two locations.
