This is such an institution, a true treasure and one of my best! It opened as a coffee stand during the Gold Rush time. All of these years later, it truly is one of the very top restaurants in the fabulous city of San Francisco. You never have to worry about the consistency and quality here. You might want to try lunch and then a few days later come back for dinner.
When I think of Tadich's, I think of their best fish dishes and the best bread ever...you will always have lines here so try to come early or just put on your patience hat!
As you enter the restaurant you will see a very long wooden bar and the stools are usually full. Of course they have white tableclothed tables and nice alcoves with booths. Wood paneling and large mirrors are on the wall, the ceilings are high. It is a no nonsense type place. The website has the long history of Tadich's, which is a great read. You really get a bigger insight of the success of this place.

A great place to stay is right down the street, at the Hyatt. Cable cars are right there too! Its fun to walk in the city and this location is good for that since it is flat. The water and all of the piers are nearby. If you start walking up the hill (which as we know there are many hills) past Tadich's, go to the Bank of America building and enjoy a special, romantic cocktail in the sky!
