Located in Central Ohio between Cleveland and Columbus – Mohican State Park, known to be the camp & canoe capital of Ohio, is a perfect outdoor vacation destination for the whole family. No matter what season, Mohican offers a plethora of events, adventures and other attractions, and guarantees multigenerational fun.

The Mohican State Park is one of the largest recreational properties located in Ohio. A perfect destination for multigenerational travel, with many attractions and events, it is guaranteed fun for everyone.

What really sets this place apart is that there are so many different locations and landmarks spread across the park - each one equally interesting and worth visiting.

These locations, connected by miles of hiking, biking and horse trails and byways, add to the unique beauty and biodiversity of the Mohican. The views are indeed spectacular. The hiking trails take you right into the heart of it all. If you love birds there are special birding trails and expeditions to spot the species native to the area (remember to take your binoculars!).  Other dedicated trails take you right through the forest where you can appreciate the native Ohio trees and wildflowers. I highly recommend the wildflower hike at the Malabar Farm http://www.malabarfarm.org/ and the birding/biodiversity trails at the Gorman Nature Center http://www.gormannaturecenter.org/ and the Ohio Bird Sanctuary  http://www.ohiobirdsanctuary.com/. All of these locations offer many activities for the entire family to enjoy. Children will enjoy hands-on animals, bird, snake and other creature presentations, arts and crafts and fun classes and activities offered at every site.

Apart from the trails there are so many other attractions. For the adventurous,  there is canoeing, ziplining, go cart rides and many more. If you like to golf, make sure you bring your clubs!
Since the Clear Fork Branch of the Mohican River runs through Mohican State Park, boating and fishing enthusiasts will be more than satisfied. Several locations around Pleasant Hill Park  http://pleasanthillpark.mwcd.org/  offer boat rentals, water skiing, swimming and other attractions by the lake.

Events and other attractions

There is always something happening at the Mohican. There are plenty of year round events, festivals, fairs at multiple Park sites for the whole family to enjoy. For a full list visit http://discovermohican.com/

Lodging

Mohican-Loudonville area offers numerous choices for lodging for any needs – from primitive to the luxurious, family friendly options. There are cabins, cottages, rental homes, campgrounds, hotels, inns, resorts and even a Castle! My personal recommendation for a multigenerational gateway is Mohican National State Park Lodge. You can read more about it here: http://www.boomertravelpatrol.com/mohican-national-state-park-lodge

Food

Visitors will find plenty of restaurants and local eateries. Of a special mention is the Malabar Farm http://www.malabarfarmrestaurant.com/ which offers local, delicious farm-to-table, mostly American gourmet cuisine with numerous selections for every taste.

Shopping and museums

The area is rich in shops and galleries with unique local arts, crafts and merchandise.

Many sites like the Malabar Farm, offer guided tours and feature art and historical exhibits.

The Mohican no doubt is Ohio’s hidden gem waiting to be discovered. It is a perfect and affordable destination for the whole family. It offers much more than just beautiful views and miles of hiking trails. Mohican State Park is a great alternative to overcrowded beach resorts, expensive and loud amusement parks and other vacation destinations that are more exhausting than relaxing.

Grab the entire family and enjoy this diverse destination any time of the year.
