The week seemed to fly by and the time had come to leave camp and head north through Vermont to Canada. Susie had a fun and productive week and had made many new friends, both canine and human. She was going to miss her camp buddies especially Brie, Lucy, Rascal, Digby and another Aussie, Phil a blue merle from the Bronx.

After breakfast and a few final goodbyes we headed out on Vermont 9 until we merged onto Interstate 91 to head north. It was interesting to see the Moose Crossing signs along the highway and further north we also saw Bear Crossing signs, but no sign of either Bullwinkle or Yogi. The scenery through Vermont is absolutely amazing and beautiful. Vermont is certainly one of the prettiest states we have visited. We had allowed plenty of time to sightsee and enjoy the drive since our next overnight stop was St. Jean Richelieu, Quebec which was only 228 miles from Marlboro.

Our first stop along the road was the King Arthur Flour store in Norwich, VT. Susie’s daddy has been baking with King Arthur products for years and orders supplies from Vermont on a regular basis. The location is a combination store, restaurant/coffee shop, and school for baking classes. While there a sticky bun and latte were in order – and delicious!

Susie was pleased that we purchased a couple of boxes of dog biscuit mix which had a dog biscuit cookie cutter attached. One package for us and one as a raffle gift for WAGS, our pet therapy group, back in Louisville. We also found a smaller biscuit cutter and a squirrel cookie cutter. Susie liked the idea of crunching on squirrel dog biscuits.

Although a bit out of our way the stop at King Arthur Flour was well worth the visit and for any boomers interesting in cooking and baking is a great place to stop, eat and shop. Also for dogs there is plenty of green space for answering the call of nature.
