I love the holidays…it’s such a magical time! The twinkling lights, egg nog, decorating the tree, shopping for gifts and celebrations with family and friends – everything seems a little more festive and those around you just a little more jolly.
Much of my love of the holiday season comes from my Mother. It was her favorite time of year and she was proud to be included in the ranks of those die-hard shoppers who started stockpiling gifts months before Santa was scheduled to arrive. And whether or not it was true, I believe what she loved most were the presents. Hours were spent perusing catalogs, watching for sales, gift wrapping and then anxiously waiting for Christmas Eve when she delighted in watching us tear into the packages to see what Santa brought us. Magical!
As the holiday season approaches, I see my Mother everywhere. While she is no longer with us, her memory is wrapped up in all that I do as I plan for a wonderful celebration with my family. I learned from her that the best gifts aren’t those wrapped in ribbons and bows, they are those wrapped in joy and tradition and love.
While this year is quickly coming to an end, I am focused on helping many of my clients who will be traveling in December. Lots of planning is involved to make sure these vacations are extra special. Just like wonderful Christmas presents, travel comes to us wrapped with moments we’ve never experienced, opportunities we’ve never known and new paths to explore.
So take some time this season to savor your traditions or maybe start a few new ones. Travel is truly a gift – one that’s filled with richness, perspective and wonders all along the way. There are hundreds of memories to be made and the world is waiting.
