I have some German in my heritage so I love to visit authentic German restaurants wherever I may be. This is really fun to find this family history right in the town of Akeley.
Family history, family roots are the most important part of all of our lives. In 1986 Gabriele’s parents, Arno and Giesela bought this old roadhouse in Minnesota after coming from Germany. They served only a few things to eat until Gabriele developed the restaurant. This is the true deal, homemade German food, salad all organic and meat locally farm raised, hand cut right there.
From the front it is like a cute little house, as you enter it is so friendly, so cute, so inviting and everyone gets huge hugs from Gabriele and Gary. Yes, this is a happy restaurant, my type of place!

Entrée: everyone talks and writes about their Plum Glazed Duck, Weiner Schnitzel or German pork chops
They also have a Bratwurst sandwich for only 6.95!
Vast selection of German beers, I loved the deep dark one which almost matched the deep wood that was all throughout the restaurant.
