VIA Rail

Board VIA Rail’s “The Canadian,” and relax in the Dome car as you experience 360-degree views of the glistening glaciers of the Albreda Icefields and, on a clear day, view Mt. Robson – the highest peak of the Rockies.

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Jasper is home to one of Canada’s oldest and largest national parks, Jasper National Park, established in 1907. Hike along its trails and for a unique experience hang out at night to learn why it’s one of the largest Dark Sky Preserve across the globe. These exceptional starry skies are the result of the park’s effort to create a natural habitat where light pollution is lessened to best preserve the nighttime environment.

Visit dramatic Maligne Canyon, one of Jasper's most spectacular landmarks. Dine against the backdrop of the picture-perfect sparkling waters of Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies.

Take a cruise highlighting the beauty of Spirit Island, and walk along this tiny floating landmark for mountains and forests surrounding Maligne Lake.

Icefields Parkway

Stand on the amazing 1,000-foot thick Athabasca Glacier during an exciting excursion at the Columbia Icefield. This mass of glacial ice is the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle.

Take a stroll on the Skywalk with breathtaking views of the Sunwapta Valley. You can see the dramatic landscape form the glass-floored platform.

Stop at Peyto Lake – a turquoise glacier-fed lake that evokes pure serenity.

Fairmont Properties

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, located in the heart of pristine Banff National Park, and within a UNESCO World Heritage site awaits your arrival. Enjoy canoeing, horseback riding and guided hiking. If you travel there in the winter, hit the slopes at this world-class ski resort.

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, properly nicknamed the "Castle in the Mountains" is another grand accommodation. If you’re traveling there in the summer spend an afternoon playing at Stanley Thompson designed Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course. Relax at the Willow Stream, its famous European-style spa, too.

Calgary Stampede

Originating in 1912, the Calgary Stampede is the world’s largest rodeo showcasing western heritage. It is held every year for 10 days in July (July 4-13, 2014).

Watch the world’s richest tournament-style rodeo and see who advances to Showdown Sunday.

Travel to the Stampede grounds where you can visit the Midway, an authentic Indian Village, and various exhibits.

Witness the GMC Rangeland Derby, with nine nightly heats, featuring 36 drivers and 216 horses.

One of their new features is Bell aqua ranch where travelers see thrilling jet skiers make waves through cascades of water shooting 70 feet high!

Enjoy the TransAlta Grandstand Show that has entertained audiences since 1912. Each year there is a new theme of great performers, music, stunts, pyrotechnics and more.
