Quick Overview

Danville Kentucky is an amazing small town in the middle of rural Kentucky.  From the outside it reminds me of Mayberry North Carolina.  It’s a place where town folks still run the small shops, and everyone seems to have a warm hello.

Danville is a wonderful weekend road trip for many people in the Kentucky and Tennessee area.  The town is famous for its Kentucky School for the Deaf, which has been in operation since the 1880’s.  With this background the entire town is Special Needs friendly.  Sign language and lip reading skills are common among the store keepers.  The Oral and Deaf community actually have their own sports teams, entertainment, and social areas.  It is a wonderful place to see a play while deaf interpreters sign along.

Danville is also a beautiful town, which tends to shine in every season.  A number of houses have been on the historical preservation registry.   There are tours offered of the Kentucky School for the Dear and Centre College.  House and garden tours are also available.  In the summer a huge Drum and Corps event brings thousands of visitors to Danville.

Often the best way to see Danville is in the quiet moments, Checking out a cemetery, the architecture of the 1800s or dining at a local establishment.  It turns out that Shakertown is about 45 minutes away if you want to explore the Shaker lifestyle, and the Markers Mark Bourbon Distillery is also not far down the road.

So, why not go explore Danville and the surrounding area?
