Which means, it can sometimes be hard to decide how to pick-and-choose, but don’t stress—instead, sip your worries away on a 5-stop tasting tour of Colorado. Known for high-elevation vino and vineyards set against a backdrop of some of the most magnificent mountains and landscapes in the country, the Centennial State has a lot to offer.

Stop 1: Uncork and unwind in a cool, underground cellar in Paonia for an old-world experience at Stone Cottage Cellars, where you can stay in the original stone cottage located in the center of the vineyard, and constructed of fieldstone cleared from the vineyard.

Stop 2: Lavender lends its calming, soothing scent to St. Kathryn Cellars, in Palisade, where their lavender wine is crafted with local, organically grown lavender. And, when you stop by for a sample, be sure to try their homemade fresh butter fudge.

Stop 3: Take advantage of Claremont Inn & Winery’s “Taste, Dine and Stay” special in Stratton, CO: relax and rejuvenate in romantic and uniquely decorated rooms, enjoy wines crafted and bottled on site, and cultivate new skills through on-site cooking classes.

Stop 4:  Okay, it isn’t wine, but it’s definitely worthy! For a more “country-casual” approach,  pitch your tent at Delicious Orchards, in Hotchkiss, where you can camp, pick your fruit and sample delicious ciders from  Big B’s juices.

Stop 5: Sample the southwest with a glass of wine from Leroux Creek Inn and Vineyard, and prepare for a friendly game of petanque (a bocce-like ball game) while overlooking stunning vineyards just outside of Paonia.
