Shanghai


Shanghai, though famous for its glitzy and energetic night life also holds many calming temples and scenic spots for you to explore in the day. You must check out the The Jade Buddha Temple, located in the Putuo District which holds a 1.9m-high jade Buddha; a truly mesmerising vision and of course you must experience the dazzling Huangpu River which you can glide along in a night cruise, to really take in Shanghai in all its splendour!

 

Must see spot- We recommend strolling through the Yuyuan Gardens in Shanghai, a charming spot that comprises of a 5-acre garden built in 1577, which features Ming Dynasty towers, ponds, gardens & arched bridges,  after exploring you can sit in the famous Húxīntíng Teahouse! Xi’an

 

Xi’an is the perfect city to experience a traditional Chinese journey. The Xi'an Ancient City Wall, The Drum tower and Shaanxi History Museum highlight the historical significance of the city.  The ancient and holy building,  The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, also provides for a truly meditative journey where you can experience the real essence of Buddhism.

 

Must see spot-Terracotta Warriors- You cannot visit Xi’an without visiting the Terracotta warriors based in the Shaanxi Province, this site has proven to be the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century, it’s truly incredible. This is a must for those Chinese- history enthusiasts and with its low physical requirements; you can see it all in half a day!

 

Chengdu

 

Chengdu is a place famous for its relaxed atmosphere and for its Giant Panda Breeding Research Base which also homes 20 other species of rare animals. Did you know Pandas are considered Chinas symbol and national treasure? Chengdu has a very leisurely lifestyle you’ll find that teahouses cover every corner. You can play a game of mahjong, eat some Sichuan cuisine and watch some Opera all in one day!

 

Must see spot- Wenshu Temple-This monastery dates back to the Tang dynasty and is the city’s largest and best-preserved Buddhist temple. Wenshu Pensu contains more than 450 Buddha statues and many other precious relics for you to gaze upon! The beauty and serenity of the grounds provides for the perfect retreat for those who want to sip tea and relax!

 

Beijing

 

Beijing is full of incredible sites you can explore! You could spend the day exploring The Forbidden City and then shop for souvenirs and snacks along Qianmen Street and visit the hutongs to make dumplings and learn Chinese calligraphy. You can even visit the Temple of Heaven Park and take part in a meditative tai chi session.

 

Must see spot-The Summer Palace, which  was once a summer retreat for emperors and is now, most notably, the largest royal park in China boasts glorious gardens with a tons of man-made ancient structures. This recreational area provides for the perfect day out, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing protection from the weather. You must boat along the tranquil Kunming Lake!

  Try to reserve tickets for attractions for minimal waiting time

 

  Search for the most convenient accommodation, in terms of distance from food and transport

 

  Always carry the essentials and important documents like health insurance

 

  Bring a smog mask with you for those more polluted days
