Puerto Vallarta: Old World Mexico Meets Modern Day Luxury

$0.00

Quick Overview

Puerto Vallarta – located just below the Sierra Madre Mountains on the Pacific Ocean’s Bahia de Banderas where the states of Jalisco and Nayarit meet. There are beaches with sand so white it looks like it was poured fresh out of an hourglass. Time almost stands still in this place that is noted as the friendliest city in the world. Enough about the lesson in geography – the reason this place is on the map is because of Elizabeth Taylor! Elizabeth’s affair with Richard Burton was highly publicized in the 1960’s.

The city’s downtown region has a luxurious beachscape where you can find artwork of Mexico’s most famous contemporary artist, Sergio Bustamante. Bustamante’s bronze sculptures line the beach that makes this area of Puerto Vallarta very distinctive. When the sun goes down the fire dancers light things up at night with shows that will ignite your senses.

Rhythms of the Night is a must see when you venture to Puerto Vallarta. First you are whisked away to the exclusive area where the show takes place. Dim lights against the coastline are a sight all on their own. The ancient traditions of Mexican culture are told through dance in an amphitheatre that was constructed to resemble ancient pyramids. The show will take you on an exciting journey that you will never forget.

After all the beats of the music from Mexico’s past, its time to continue the night - so get your dancing shoes on! There are dance clubs that make you want to dance till the sun comes up. The place to go in Puerto Vallarta to be seen is De Santos – by far! During high season which is mid November to April they serve food on the weekends until 5:00am. De Santos has an interesting fusion of Italian and Mexican food on the menu; make sure you come hungry. If the disco downstairs has your ears ringing and you need some quiet time head upstairs to the rooftop lounge. Up there you can sprawl out on a comfy couch and gaze at the stars with music playing lower than the dance floor.

Puerto Vallarta has mastered blending modern day luxury without compromising the nostalgia of this lovely city. The real luxury is you can escape for a weekend in paradise only to be pampered or explore the city for an extended stay. There is something for everyone!
