A Tribute and Special Thanks to Two of the Worlds Greatest Dogs

Susie and Beau will let you know that this has been a tough year for them and their daddy - Nothing like a major medical issue to stir up the pot.  But we all want you to know what a great comfort it is to have a pet or pets as we grow older and begin to face a variety of medical challenges. Little did daddy know that he was training me to also be a therapy dog for him (and mamma) and Beau has learned much along the way even though he is only 9 months old.

After tests and procedures the first half of the year, they finally determined that daddy had to have major surgery in mid-August to remove the right kidney and ureter. Fortunately they caught everything very early so he will be fine. Of course Beau and I were worried sick. Daddy was in the hospital for a week. When he finally got to come home for us to take over his care – the moment he saw me he began to weep and I gave him loads of kisses. Thus – therapy began!

Of course Beau and I slept near him all the time. When he would wake up, we were both there for belly rubs, pets and kisses, which helped him and us too. Daddy believes that our love and attention had more positive healing effects than any other part of his recovery process. We are not fully out of the woods yet, but daddy is feeling human again – although I think he is part canine too.

Dogs are one of the greatest gifts that God has given mankind. Time and time again they have proven their help in health and healing. High blood pressure –  get and laugh with a dog. Beau is the funniest little dog around and Susie is the sweetest – a perfect combination for health and happiness and to drive away the aches of aging.
