See New York City By Boat

Quick Overview

Last weekend my husband Doug and I went to NYC.  It was his first visit.  I was in a training in Stamford, so we took some time to see the sights in New York City.  The city can be, and is often very exhausting, so on Sunday morning (Doug’s last day) we were looking for a more laid back experience.

Last weekend my husband Doug and I went to NYC.  It was his first visit.  I was in a training in Stamford, so we took some time to see the sights in New York City.  The city can be, and is often very exhausting, so on Sunday morning (Doug’s last day) we were looking for a more laid back experience.

We found the Circle Line Cruises.  This company takes 1 to 3 hour water tours around the island of Manhattan.  The boats have air conditioning on the inside, or an outdoor option.  They sell food and drinks, and actually have an accessible restroom on the first floor.  We signed up for the Circle Line Complete Manhattan Cruise.   We are so glad we did.

The cruise was a very calm, less chaotic way to see the city from the water.  The guide was great at filling us in on interesting facts about the neighborhoods, buildings, and legends along the way.  We saw the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 site, the Brooklynn Bridge and much more.  We went under over 20 bridges, through the trip.  The cruise gave us a deeper appreciation for the diversity and flavor of the true New York beyond tourist sites.

There were lots of multigenerational families and groups on board with us.  Some people brought their own picnic to enjoy while cruising.  I think everyone had a great time.  The Circle Line Cruises offer a variety of cruises including a Sunset Harbor Tour, and a new Brooklynn Tour.  Although the cruise was VERY ACCESSIBLE it was also a lot of fun, and perfectly paced.  If you are exhausted, but wanting to take in more of the NYC flavor and fun, check out Circle Line Tours.
