Barcelona – The Capital of the province Catalina.  Catalina consists of four provinces, Barcelona, Girona, Lledia and Tarragonia. During the 1960’s Catalina went through what is known as the “Spanish Miracle” which was the economic boom that really put Barcelona on the map. This miracle brought about improved living standards and an even bigger middle class in all of Spain.

 

There is a certain air about the Catalan people and there is a sense you get that this city is proud of its heritage.  At times this air can be mistaken for arrogance. Make no mistake that the Catalin people are proud of their lovely city.  This city is filled with gems of architect Antonio Gaudi.

 

Antonio Gaudi was a Spanish Catalan architect.  You can almost taste his work when you see it; Gaudi has a very distinctive style.  La Sagrada Familia is one of Gaudis masterpieces which dominates Barcelona.  The cathedral is still a work in progress today. Make sure you arrive to this attraction early because the line gets very long very fast. There are private tours in which you can escape any wait time so you are sure not to waste a moment of you trip.  Make sure you can brave tight spaces because when you take the elevator to the top of the cathedral the walls can seem to close in on you.

 

The hotel Arts Barcelona has all the amenities you need in one place. From concierge to 1,000 thread count sheets, not one detail is left over looked in this fine establishment. The hotel is located right near the beach and the newley renovated areas of thre city after the Olympics in 1992.  The location is perfect. 

 

Arola restaurant located in Hotel Arts is a place you’d better not tell anyone you visited Barcelona and didn’t go to. Everyone who is someone goes to Arola. From its super modern clean design to the exquisite presentation on the plates pouring out of the kitchen, this establishment raises the bar on dinning standard – it defines it.  While you are there don’t forget to get a picture of Frank Gehry’s giant wale.

 

And there is the shopping, shopping and shopping.  This city sets trends in the fashion world.  Anna Puig Joies with her famous jewelry and don’t forget to stop by EL CORTE INGLES.

 

From world class food to world class fashion this city has it all. You can fall in love for the first time or all over again in this glorious place we have come to call Barcelona.  With its many cobble stone lined squares lined with cafes and shops this is the place you go and get lost in time.
