Stay at the plush Mandarin Oriental. It is well-located and caters to it’s guests every whim. Head to their uber-trendy bar for drinks or slip into one of their deliciously comfortable robes and treat yourself to a spa day. If you prefer a more quaint setting, try the Charles in the heart of Cambridge. If all you want to do is shop your heart out, stay at the Taj. Nestled on the corner of Newbury Street, (arguably Boston’s crown jewel) The Taj is dangerously close to Burberry, Chanel, a plethora of chic boutiques, high-street labels and more. Your wallet won’t be happy, but your closet will be forever grateful.

You could spend weeks in Boston and be unable to see all the historic landmarks in its fold. Instead of inundating yourself with information you’re not going to remember, pick a few sites which catch your fancy and familiarize yourself with the rich history behind them. Needless to say, the Freedom Trail is a must. Beacon Hill, the State houses, Quincy Market & Faneuil Hall are fun to explore. The first printing press and Acorn Street are offbeat yet interesting places to visit. You could visit Harvard and MIT and sit in on a lecture perhaps, or visit one of Boston’s countless museums. End your day of sight-seeing with a visit to the North End for some authentic Italian food (don’t forget to grab some sinfully creamy Cannolis at Mike’s Pastry).

Take a break from the tourist drill and spend a lazy day at the Boston Common with a bottle of Prosecco and some strawberries. Catch a ballet performance or a play in the evening and then head to Ken Oringer’s Toro for what will be one of the best meals of your life. It’s near impossible to get a table, and (surprise surprise) they don’t take reservations. Pick a weekday and get there early. The Paella Valenciana, the roasted peppers, the Uni Bocadillo and the corn are to die for. Bistro du Midi is the best French food in the city and is a great spot for dinner and drinks. Sit outside and sip on a Corsica, a cocktail with a splash of Pimms – the perfect summer drink!

If you aren’t quite up to a white linen ambience, try Bartleys, a Harvard institution which (according to any true blue Bostonian) serves the best burgers in the world. You can’t leave Boston without eating your weight in seafood. The Barking Crab on the waterfront is a great spot to get messy – think fresh lobster claws dripping with melted butter. Neptune Oyster is another great seafood option and serves a lobster roll you’ll never forget. Take a trip to Drink post-dinner where the bartenders custom-create cocktails according to patrons’ ‘mood’ and favorite flavors.
