Speaking of great flicks, “La La Land” takes us back to the glory days of musicals and gives us a break from our daily lives, which leads me to Burbank! What, not Hollywood? Well, Burbank is Hollywood – that's where the studios are and the entertainment offices and where you will actually see familiar faces walking down the street. I figured out a long time ago that flying into Bob Hope airport in Burbank was the way to go! By the way, after all these years, they will be changing the name from Bob Hope to Hollywood Burbank around June. It does cost more to fly into Burbank than LAX, but you will be off the plane with your bags in hand in a matter of 5 minutes!

No matter which airport you use, when in the LA area, you will need a car and that is also very easy to do in Burbank, so if you want to venture out to Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the Hollywood Hills, just hop in your car and stand still on the freeway with all the other folks.

However, you flew into Burbank and what better to place to stay then the Hotel Amarano. It's a charming boutique hotel located minutes from the Studios – hey, you may be there for an audition! Chances are, you just want to take a tour. In that case, the hotel provides a free shuttle to Universal Studios and you can even walk to Warner Brothers.

There is a wonderful pool and a great little bar, the Library Lounge which serves amazing cocktails, appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts.

Burbank is a great home base with many shops and restaurants and the prices are quite a bit less than L.A. I always see familiar faces coming out of the studios and it's got a great retro vibe.

The Hotel Amarano offers free WiFi, has a rooftop terrace with views of the city, has a fitness center and provides a free shuttle to the airport. It's my pick when visiting La La Land and I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you choose this for your next stay. Now, on to the awards!
