JFK airport is now No.1 with dogs and cats, it’s also No.2! The airport has just opened a post security potty for pets complete with fake grass and a red fire hydrant in Terminal 4.

The pet potty area is set up in a single-stall bathroom that is decorated with paw prints, lined with epoxy and waterproof turf.

The room is designed to be hosed down regularly. Pet owners are provided with poop bags to clean up their dogs business themselves.

The airport realized that with the increase with animals in air travel, that they needed to provide somewhere for them to go. This saves having to clean up a mess on the airport terminal floor or having to take them outside and go through security a second time. The way things are now, you would probably miss your flight.

The dog potty area was designed by a Manhattan nonprofit that trains guide dogs for the blind and disabled.

Today with the longer wait times both before and between connecting flights, your dog or cat is going to need to relieve themselves and if pressed will go wherever they can. The pet potty provides a great solution to the problem.

Hopefully, other airports will pick up the concept to make it the norm rather than the exception. Hats off to New York JFK for thinking about our fur children.

It is a great thing to see something positive in the air travel system when for the most part things are going down the toilet in our airports.
