The Humble Hideaway is located near Monmouth close to the Welsh border with England in the Wye River valley.  The Hideaway is one part of the Humble by Nature farm. The farm has two other properties for guest – The Hayloft and the Piggery, but for this article we are focusing on the Humble Hideaway.

The Hideaway is room for two humans and up to two dogs can stay in a spacious kennel. Two additional people can stay in a tent as well. The location is back in the woods and only accessible by a 4 X 4 (All wheel drive vehicle) or by walking. The Hideaway consists of a Shepherd’s Hut with a double bed and a wood burning stove, and a GWR Lamp Hut, originally used to store railroad lamps, which contains a shower, gas cooker and kitchen area.

You will be totally off the grid as the location uses solar powered electricity and a composting toilet.  The camp area is in a fenced-off wooded glade, it has a fire pit and outdoor wooden furniture, hand-made on-site using wood milled from the farm. Even though the camp is fenced, it is not fully dog proof. Dogs are welcome, but not allowed in the huts.
