Located in the Paradise Valley section of Scottsdale, Arizona on 125 acres is the spectacular Camelback Inn surrounded by cacti and desert flowers with terrific views of the Camelback and Mummy Mountains.

This sprawling resort has everything you could possibly want in one location. There are 6 restaurants, world class golf course, amazing spa, outdoor pool, croquet, tennis courts, horseback riding and hiking trails with meditation spots. Just negotiating your way around the property will be a hike!

However the grounds are simply beautiful and you will enjoy checking out the scenery.

Rooms range in size, but even the most modest facility is a lovely casita style with French doors leading out to a patio. The beds are really comfortable and come equipped with flat screen TVs and iPod docks. The feel is southwest and rustic and believe me, there is plenty of room to spread out.

You will need a car when you arrive here, but valet parking is complimentary and there is free parking on site. Even though this property has it all, you will want to explore what Scottsdale has to offer. Also, Phoenix is about 9 miles away and a must side trip is to Sedona, which is a mere 2 hours by car through some magnificent landscapes.

Old Town Scottsdale is a treat and you can imagine how the city was back in the day. Lots of quaint shops, art galleries, western wear and jewelry. Other shopping areas you might want to check out is the Fashion Square Mall for a traditional shopping experience or the Shops of Gainey Village. Art galleries and museums are in plentiful supply so be sure to check with the concierge for the best ones to explore.

I highly recommend all the restaurants at the Camelback Inn, but when you venture out, be sure and try the Tortilla Factory in Old Town. Richie, our RV Patrol happened to be in Scottsdale the same time I was and we met here for some giant margaritas and terrific southwest cuisine. It's a thumbs up for food, drinks and atmosphere.

Back at the ranch, I mean resort, you can dine at the Garden Terrace with  outdoor patio seating and fire pits. Rita's Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, go more upscale at BLT Steak or be healthy at Sprouts – the choice is yours. If you've just finished a round of golf, you might want to grab a bite at the Golf Grill with a great view of the course.

There are gardens, swimming pools with misters to cool you off and free WiFi in the public areas.

Rates are on the high side, but special offers are always available, so check with the property. Of course, it is very hot in the summer months, so be aware of the temperatures when booking this location. The Spring, Fall and Winter are great times to visit.

If you've never explored this area, it is breathtaking and deserves a visit and while here, you need to stay at the Camelback Inn Resort and Spa. It's a real treat!
