Homewood Suites: Beaumont, Texas

$0.00

Quick Overview

The Homewood Suites by Hilton in Beaumont, Texas is one of the best properties in the area, if not the best. We found it as a home away from home. The hotel was both handicapped and pet friendly and the staff made us feel very welcome.

The drive to Beaumont was a grueling one for all concerned. A large storm front was moving across the country and we were driving straight down through it after leaving Grenada, MS on Interstate 55. We wouldn’t turn to the west until we reached Interstate 12 near Baton Rouge,  LA where we picked up Interstate 10 that would carry us across Louisiana to Texas.

The weather and traffic delays had us arriving at the hotel in Beaumont at 8 pm in the evening. Fortunately we were staying for two nights so could settle in a bit before returning home after taking care of matters in Beaumont.

The Homewood Suites by Hilton is typical of the high quality properties run by Hilton. Due to the dual need of a handicapped and pet friendly room, we were located on the second floor, but very close to the elevator.

We had a suite that had a kitchen, living room and large bedroom with two queen sized beds. In this case there was plenty of room for the beds as well as all the other great appointments of the suite. We picked our respective beds and then Susie jumped up on her daddy’s bed as usual and made herself right at home. The beds were very comfortable and everything was immaculately clean including the bathroom and the kitchen.

Typical of a suite the kitchen had a microwave, two stove top burners, large refrigerator, coffee maker, table and all the utensils, glassed and plates needed for a stay. We had plenty of room for our drinks and storage for ice, which we both make ample use of. Also room to put Susie’s supplies and her food and water bowls.

The suite had two large HD TVs and a DVD player in the living room. DVD’s were available in the hotel store. But I used some free time on our full day in Beaumont to watch a Batman movie on HBO that I had not seen yet.

The hotel has a business center, pool, larger than average lobby, breakfast and food area, and a store with a wide range of snacks and quick meal items. The staff was also friendly and helpful.

A full breakfast was provided with the only downside being a lack of orange juice for the two mornings we were there. Otherwise the breakfast included the usual range of cereal, rolls, donuts, bagels as well as sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs. During the working week they also serve food at the dinner hour, which we didn’t have the opportunity to try.

The hotel is extremely pet friendly and has decided not to add any surcharge for pets. Susie was warmly greeted and enjoyed meeting her new friends at the hotel. There are also plenty of green spaces around the hotel for Susie to take care of her business. They also have a stand with poopy bags in one area of the property just like the Hilton property that we visited in Erie, PA.

Beaumont provides the opportunity to enjoy the fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico. Also both Cajun and Mexican cuisine are readily available as well as many other types of food and restaurants. There will be a separate article on our great experience at Pappadeaux’s, a restaurant featuring both seafood and Cajun cuisine.

For more information on things to do in Beaumont you can visit their convention bureau website . There are a number of good golf courses available for those who like to play and Crockett Street is the local entertainment district.
