Hilton on Marco Island, Florida

Quick Overview

Situated facing the pristine white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, sits one of my favorite hotels stateside, the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa. I try to get there every chance I get and sadly, that's just not often enough!

If you need a getaway and you want casual luxury, this destination and hotel is for you. I don't want to take anything away from the Marriott just down the street, because I have stayed there as well, but I prefer the intimate nature of the Hilton. With only 297 rooms at the Hilton, compared with 727 at the Marriott, you have fewer people vying for the pool, restaurants, spa, etc. By the way, their standard accommodations are junior suites. The rooms are really spacious with private balconies, large flat screen TVs, sofa beds in addition to king or 2 queen beds, small fridge, in-room coffee makers and so much more!

I also love that the parking lot is situated on the hotel property with a gated station. There is a daily parking rate, but it is quite reasonable.

Located directly across the street from the hotel is a small shopping center with movie theater, restaurants and of course, shops! The city of Marco Island is very quaint and will remind Boomers of the Florida they visited when they were kids. There are a few fast food restaurants, but most of the dining is local, which means fresh seafood.

At the hotel, you have casual dining at the Paradise Cafe with a beach view, as well as Sandcastles, the more formal restaurant right off the bar. Speaking of the bar, that too, is quite intimate and during the season, has nightly entertainment. On my last visit, I ran into a couple from Scotland that had been staying there for 3 weeks and were so sad to leave. They visit this property every year and always look forward to their stay.

If you love collecting sea shells, be sure and get up early and walk the beach right outside your door. There are many treasures to be found, but you have to get out bright and early.

There is plenty to see and do in Marco Island, but only about 20 miles away is Naples, Florida and 30 miles in another direction is the Everglades, and if you've never taken an airboat ride through there, it's quite an adventure! If you like to fish, go boating, golf, shop or just plain soak up the sun, I highly recommend Marco Island and the Hilton as your home while visiting.
