Frenchy's Oasis Motel: Clearwater Beach, Florida

$0.00

Quick Overview

Remember the 60’s? Well, of course you do – you’re a Baby Boomer! Do you recall going on vacation with your parents to Florida and staying in a motel? I know I have fond memories of those trips and that’s why I was happy to stumble across this hidden gem in Clearwater Beach. Say ooh la la to Frenchy’s Oasis Motel. This is a trip back in time in the nicest way possible. “Frenchy,” a Quebec native moved to Clearwater a few years out of high school and worked many jobs. Over the years, he created four restaurants, all of which, 30 years later, are still going strong. That shows me he must be doing something right, so in 2010 when he purchased and remodeled a motel, you knew it was going to be special.

Frenchy’s is located on the intracoastal and is within walking distance of most major attractions in the area. You are two blocks from the Gulf and this motel has its own private dock, which is great for fishing.

There are a total of 15 rooms, all designed in 1960’s décor. Most units have kitchenettes and an outdoor area, flat screen TVs and free WiFi. There is a Barbeque Grill available for all guests to use – great to grill that fresh fish you just caught off the dock! There is a heated pool on the property and sunscreen, towels and floats are provided. There is also a DVD lending library, free use of the laundry room and free parking – sign me up!

Remember I mentioned Frenchy’s 4 restaurants? Well, when you check in, you get discount coupons to dine in all of them in addition to other coupons for shopping, etc.  All this in addition to great customer service, which is also a throwback to the 60’s.

While in Clearwater, be sure and head to Pier 60, where every evening, weather permitting, the sunsets are celebrated. Two hours before sunset to two hours after sunset, there is music, street performers and a variety of entertainment. A great way to get around is on the Jolley Trolley which takes you to beaches and the coastal routes. A weekly pass runs around $20 – a real bargain! There are a number of golf courses in the vicinity, shopping, diving, parasailing, fishing charters, party cruises and dolphin watching.

And then, of course, the beaches.  I particularly like the one at Sand Key Park, but they all have beautiful white sand.

There are a variety of dining options for fresh seafood, but don’t forget, you have discounts to Frenchy’s 4 restaurants: the Original Café on Baymont St.; Frenchy’s Saltwater Café; Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill and Frenchy’s South Beach Café.

So, pack your bags to take a trip down memory lane and say “Oui” to Frenchy’s!
