Start your engines and head to Indy! That’s Indianapolis for those who aren’t from the area. This is a city that has blossomed and grown to become a center for sports, shopping and entertainment and deserves a visit. While making the trek, check out one of the new kids on the block for hotels, The Alexander - I highly recommend it. This is a boutique style hotel with modern décor and millions of dollars of artwork displayed throughout the facility curated by the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
There are 157 rooms and 52 extended stay suites. The beds are super comfy, there is free WiFi, in-room Keurig coffee maker, key cards are used for lights, so they are very eco-friendly, and there is a fitness center with spa treatments on site.
The staff takes great pride in this hotel and you will find them to be very friendly and helpful. Ask them for the complimentary bicycles so you can explore the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. This is an 8 mile urban bike and pedestrian path connecting neighborhoods, entertainment and cultural districts. You will pass through Fountain Square, The Canal and White River State Park as well as the Wholesale District. Hey, this was written up in the New York Times, so be sure and check it out.
About a mile from the hotel, you can visit Atomic Bowl, with 7 duckpin alleys using authentic bowling equipment from the 50’s and 60’s – how cool is that? This was one of Babe Ruth’s favorite games and Atomic Bowl is the only one in the Midwest.
There are loads of restaurants in the nearby vicinity, but The Alexander has two restaurants and a lounge on site. For small plates and cocktails, be sure and check out Plat 99 Lounge with live entertainment and an outdoor terrace. Marketplace has an open kitchen and all food is prepared to order. For a farm-to-table experience, visit Cerulean with amazing meals prepared by owner and chef, Caleb France.
The hotel is located within one mile of Lucas Oil Stadium, Banker’s Life Fieldhouse and Monument Circle. You are near vintage and antique stores, entertainment venues, art galleries, comic book stores and festivals.
There is also mall shopping, restaurants and coffee houses of all types and best of all, you can just park your car and walk. Be aware that there is a daily parking rate, but just think, you won’t have to keep putting gas in your car to get around. This hotel is also pet friendly – dogs and cats only. You may bring one pet not to exceed 40 pounds and check with the hotel for fees that may apply.
