Barcelona is located on the Mediterranean Sea, just below Andorra and the French border. It is the capital of the autonomous Spanish region of Catalunya. Two "must do" destinations:
LA RAMBLA - is the famous boulevard that your friends back home will ask the "did you visit" question ... so it is a must do on your list and suggest you take this in first as you will need all your energy and concentration to navigate yourself through the maize of shopkeepers and entertainers! There will be hundreds of people sharing your adventure, so beware mind your purse and wallet! Flower and fruit stands, walking fruit entertainers, bird and animal stalls, living statues, and a plethora of entertainment! Just be careful with the photo shoot, for many will "charge" you for taking pictures! Beware as you are prepared for this must see adventure!
SAGRADA FAMILIA - this is an unfinished church masterpiece of Art Nouveau architect, Antoni Gaudi. He began his work in 1882 until his death 40 years later. During his lifetime only four of the towers were completed and the additional 14 are ongoing through donations! It is awe-inspiring and to see the magnitude of his vision is beyond description! There is a lift that can take you to the top, wherein you can take in the breathtaking views of the city. Often I wonder what ever happened to the genius of mankind ... for such a visionary has been lost in today's modern world.
