Food goes with wine and wine goes with food!

My family has always enjoyed wine. It makes sense since we are all foodies and grew up in Northern California. I decided I must let my boomer friends know about some great wineries to visit! I would rate all of these vineyards 4 stars!

Chalk Hill

10300 Chalk Hill Road

Healdsburg, Ca. 95448

Opens daily 10-4

1 hour tasting is 15.00 per person,   appointment preferred

The founder was Fred Furth, who saw this spectacular property in 1972 from his plane, as he flew over the Russian River. Fred and Peggy have made the rest of the story an exciting one as has Bill Foley. He has created a very large wine empire which is all part of the foley family wines. I was very lucky to have the privilege, along with my family to have private tastings along with Bills fabulous ambassador, Onna at Merus and Kuleto wineries, part of his magical group.

The Chalk Hill land has produced produce, meats, poultry and wine. My family have personally enjoyed many private meals here. The executive chef is Didier Ageorges.

Chalk Hill is hidden in the serene foothills. There is a true sense of privacy here. They have a winery, vineyards, a hospitality center, gardens, stables, sports fields, fishing and ponds and a quest house. Chalk Hill Cottage is 1 bedroom 1 bath and sleeps 4. It ranges from 145-185 a night.

O' Brien Estate Winery

1200 Orchard Ave.

Napa, Calif.

Appointment 20.00 per person

Bart and Barb, the owners have made this 40 acre estate a very successful winery. There is a ton of passion here and everything is top notch!

Poetry can be read to you as you stroll through the tour and true romance is everywhere. This is a fun filled tour for sure!

Sannino Bella Vita Vineyard

1375 Peconic Lane

Peconic, New York 11958

631. 734. 8282

Open Sat. and Sun.

Fee is 25.00 per person

Advanced reservations required

This is on the North Fork of Long Island. You will be able to learn the growing conditions of grapes and a lot more on this tour. The owner is Anthony Sannino and he had formal training. He keeps up with all of the latest in wine making. You can stay at the Bed and Breakfast for an added bonus!

Wollersheim Winery

7878 State Road 188

Prairie du Sac, WI. 53578

Tours daily

Fee is 5.00 per person

No reservations required

Robert and Jo Ann turned this breathtaking winery into a true winner! Philippe and his wife Julia along with Robert and JoAnne's oldest daughters are running the winery now. There have been quite a few expansions through the years  and it just gets better and better  As I read deeper and more into the history of Robert, the founder, I know this is a must visit for me and all of you! A must buy is the Coquard Brandy!

I raise my wine glass to boomers everywhere and look forward to hearing from you......Blondee
