If you want a great Florida get-away for you and your dog at a reasonable price, check out the Low-Key Hideaway at Cedar Key, Florida. Cedar Key is an island off the west coast of the Florida peninsula on the Gulf of Mexico. Cedar Key is 57 miles southwest of Gainesville and 143 miles north of Clearwater and Tampa.

The Low-Key Hideaway offers five rooms; four of the rooms have walkouts to their own patios overlooking a secluded bay where you can sit and watch the birds, tide, and just relax. The property caters to couples and does not allow children – at least the human kind. The Hideaway is designed to provide a quiet retreat for adults along with up to two dogs per room. There is a fee of $10 per night for pets.

The rooms all have backdoor access to a grassy area with a beautiful unobstructed view of the bay. You can take in the view while your dog(s) sniffs all the new and exciting smells. I can just picture Beau encountering a crab on his first outing there.

The Low-Key Hideaway is included in one list of the top ten pet friendly properties in the United States.

Pet rules are typical and are clearly stated on the property’s web site. Pets are expected to be well behaved, have current vaccinations and be on flea/tick preventive.  Pets outside must be on a leash. Dogs who bark excessively will be asked to leave. Of course you are responsible for any damage caused by your pet.

The four King rooms that have access to the bay are all suites with a bedroom and living room with a kitchenette.  These 4 Rooms include a King Sized Bed, full size refrigerator, toaster, silverware and dishes, microwave, coffee maker, Cable TV, flat screen televisions in both the living room and the bedrooms, Heat & Air, 2 ceiling fans, alarm clock and in case of a rainy day, there are board games and plenty of books available in the office.

The fifth room (Room 1) which doesn’t look out directly on the bay does not have a living room, but has a full kitchenette. This room would be great for a single person or a couple looking for a bed for the night.

In addition the Low-Key Hideaway has three waterfront RV sites with full hook-ups. In addition to sewer, water and electric, cable TV is included as well.
