Dive Right In: Cobalt Coast Resort & Suites - Grand Cayman Islands

Quick Overview

You can thank the wind and Christopher Columbus for discovering the Cayman Islands. His ship blew off course on his final voyage to the New World and he landed on two islands filled with turtles, which he named “Las Tortugas.” The Caymans are a British Overseas Territory located south of Cuba and Northwest of Jamaica. They are known for their diving, so I decided to fill you in on a Dive Resort that, for this area, is a value. The Islands are a financial center, so this is not a bargain destination, but the Cobalt Coast Resort and Suites won’t break the bank.

This resort is one mile from Hell, no, not that place you don’t want to end up, but the town of Hell, named as such because of the jagged rock formations that resemble that other place. Take a stroll there so you can pick up your T-shirt that says you’ve been to hell and back. Cheesy, I know, but everyone does it!

This Dive resort caters to multigenerational, couples and single travelers. It is pet-friendly, special needs friendly and has a sense of adventure. If you bring along the entire brood, be sure to rent a car since not everyone may want to dive each day. The resort has free parking. You are close to the Dolphin Discovery and the Turtle Farm. Seven Mile Beach is where the tourists are and there is shopping to be found as well as cafes and restaurants.

However, you may wish to opt for the all-inclusive offer at Cobalt Coast. They have their own restaurant as well as a bar/lounge. They also offer free WiFi. TVs, a fridge, coffee/tea maker and washer/dryers. They have an outdoor pool and private beach, however, it is not a swimming beach. Beach towels, cabanas, etc. are all free.

If you are not a diver, you will still want to venture out to Stingray City where you can get in the water with these amazing creatures. These islands allow you to swim with the dolphins, stingrays and turtles, so take advantage of this opportunity. You can also visit Georgetown and shop for local crafts and treasure coins, not to mention some deals on name brand designers.

The Cobalt Resort offers packages for divers as well as non-divers, so check out their specials throughout the year. They only have 20 rooms, so you need to think fast. Golf, kayaking and snorkeling are all available close to the Resort. They can also provide airport shuttle service for a fee if you decide not to rent a car.

So, visit the Cayman Islands and dive right into the Cobalt Coast Resort and Suites.
