A unique hotel built on a pier jutting into the Columbia River in Astoria Oregon, the Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa is built on the site of the Union Fish Cannery 600 feet into the river. The hotel offers magnificent views into the environs of a working river including views out to Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and nearby Washington. Each room has a private balcony out to the river.
The rooms are all luxuriously furnished with a fireplace and hardwood floors as well as other luxury amenities. You can also take advantage of the Spa which has an authentic Finnish sauna and a fitness room.
The hotel is pet friendly, but has a limited number of rooms designed with pets in mind so be sure to check when you make your reservations. There is a charge of $25 per day per pet. Pets are provided with their own bowls, healthy treats, comfy dog beds, bottle of spring water, TLC from the staff and doggie dispose a bags.
Also there is a list of rules for you and your pets to make your stay and the stay of other guests more pleasant:
1. There is a special pet entrance to the hotel for guests and their pets
2. Beyond the initial samples of pet food and treats, others are available for purchase
3. There is a nice walking area for your dog along with bags to pick up after your best friend
4. You are asked not to leave your pet in your room unattended and to restrict your pets access to public areas

The human ranking of the hotel is obviously five stars, but due to some of the restrictions on pets the canine rating is three paws.
