Die Hundepension: Pet Hotel at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany

$0.00

Quick Overview

Susie is always glad to hear from her canine friends, admirers, and boyfriends, both in the United States and abroad. She just received news from her German Shepherd buddy, Fritz, that there is a dog hotel at the airport in Frankfurt, Germany.  Of course Fritz, a bit on the fresh side, invited Susie to join him in one of the kennels at the hotel. Although Susie will pass on the opportunity for now, who knows what the future holds.

The Frankfurt Airport provides a convenient service for its clientele to make it easy for travelers to have a place to board their best friend when either going somewhere on holiday or on a business trip. The Dog Hotel is located on the south side of the airport. There are 25 kennels that are at least 20 meters in size and are heated during the winter season. In addition to the kennels there are large open areas where your dog can exercise, run and play.

The charge for your dog’s accommodations at the pet hotel is 18 euros per day during the summer and 20 euros per day in the winter. Additionally there is a one-time kennel cleanup fee of 15.50 euros upon departure.  Known in German as the Hundepension, the Dog Hotel only accepts canine guests.

Prior to making use of the facility, dog owners are invited to contact the Dog Hotel for a tour to see where their dog may be staying on their next vacation. For details and reservations either call the facility at +49.69.690.66542 or send an email to hundepension@fraport.de. The Hundepension is open to visitors Monday and Friday between 0800 and 1600 hours.

The facility also houses and trains all of the bomb sniffing and security dogs for the Frankfurt Airport. This gives the advantage that the people running the facility and thus taking care of your beloved pet really understand dogs!

The kennels although spacious enough for your best friends comfort have minimal appointments and it would be wise to bring a bed or mat for your dog as well as some toys to keep him/her occupied. Also if your dog has special dietary needs, be sure to bring these as well, but if your pet requires too much special attention, this may not be the place for them.

Another consideration is that there are no attendants at the Dog Hotel from 4 pm until 9 am during the week and on the weekends there are only attendants from 9 am until noon both on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you have stayed at the Hundepension or plan to, please leave your comments with this article. Fritz and Susie will both appreciate it!
